Fort Bragg Veterans Under Investigation in New Year’s Attacks
January 2, 2025 at 10:05 AM
Two New Year’s Day attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas have sparked investigations into potential connections. Both attackers, U.S. Army veterans, previously served at Fort Bragg, a major military base. Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove a truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street, displaying an ISIS flag and resulting in numerous casualties. Hours later, Matthew Livelsberger detonated a Cybertruck outside a Las Vegas hotel. While the attacks had different motives, law enforcement is exploring links between the perpetrators, including shared military service and the use of peer-to-peer vehicle rentals.
